GETTING STARTED:
Graphic selection:
Select a graphic with a lot of small
characters in it and no large one that
takes up say ½ or more of the total
graphic layout.
A good choice will make it easier to
make the Side Border Bars and Divider
look good and undistorted when reshaped
and resized...plus will give you more
choices of what to use.
Take a look at my Framed example in
the last section to get an idea of what
I am talking about and what I used.
Remember before starting this tutorial.
In order for some effects to perform
properly, always promote your
Background Layer to a Raster Layer
by Layers/Promote Background
Layer. Thank you....remember**.
1 Open your graphic
2 Image/Resize...
Maintain Aspect Ratio Checked.
Resize to no more than 424 wide and
no more than 364 in height.
We are going to add about 63 pixels
to each side adding borders and the
end result will be appropriate for a
800x600 screen user.
3 Shift + D
(or Edit/Copy....Edit/Paste as New Image!)
4 Repeat this 2 more times so you have 3 duplicates and
the original.
5 Close the original.
6 Resize 1 of the duplicates to 200x200
7 Effects/Plugins/Simple/4 way average
8 Rename it “SBP BG Tile”
9 Minimize it.
10 On another duplicate rename it
FRAME and minimize
it.
Side Borders
On the last duplicate:
1 Effects/Plugins/VM ToolBox/

both at 100.
You may want to adjust these settings
to get a better selection for you Divider
and Side border bars.
2 Selection Tool/Shape Rectangle
Make a selection from top to bottom
with a width of about 100-140 pixels
wide of your graphic.
3 Edit/Paste as New Image
4 Resize if it is any wider than 100 pixels.
5 Effects/Image Effects/Page Curl
NOTE: Same settings will be used on
every page curl use in this tut.

DIVIDER BAR
Done much the same as the

the length of your graphic.

been making
the rectangular selections from.

that we will use to fill on a border
once we start on the frame.

smaller then ....

move it to the side for now.
15 Close out your SB, Divider and
graphic that you were making your
selections from.

minimized and renamed SBP BG Tile.

SuperBladePro
Use Blade Pro if you don’t have the Super!
3 Select a preset that will also be used
for your small borders as we make the

I think a color theme is of the general
same overall dominant color of your
graphic.
Using a preset that lets part of your
image to show is cool too!
Do not click ok yet!
4 Click on the shape and select the most rounded shape
at the bottom of the selections.
5 Change the Height to Zero!
6 Now click OK!
7 Just another option if you need it.
Shift + B (or Adjust/Brightness and Contrast/ Brightness Contrast.
Adjust settings to make lighter or darker
keeping in mind that this is what your
text will be written on and you want it
to be readable right? RIGHT!
8 Rename this “Background Tile” and
save it but leave this open ..
We will use this as a fill on your frame also!
9 Move this out of your way for now.
