NEEDED: To get the download link to work, move the tutorial to your inbox first. Mail it to yourself !!!! postcardbyhooty.psp Click HERE You will need to unzip it! AND .... Graphic and a signature font. If the graphic is taller than it is wide it will look better when we use it.
PERFORMANCE NOTES: All settings will remain the same unless otherwise noted. Have fun and add extras if you like ! -----------------------------------
Let's Begin ! OPEN PAINT SHOP PRO
File > Open "your chosen graphic"
Edit > Copy
Close the original
File > Open "postcardbyhooty.psp"
Window > Duplicate
Close the original
Selections > Load/Save Selection > Load Selection From Alpha Channel Settings: Load from document = Same as the duplicate that you are working on. Selection # 1 Replace selection = Checked Options = Nothing Checked Load
Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection
Effects > Artistic Effects > Aged Newspaper Settings: Choose your own setting. You want it to look aged. I used 30 for this particular one. An alternative effect you could use would be Sepia Toning found in the same place. One tester used Photo Aging Kit Aged Film effect and that looks great too!
Selections > Load/Save Selection > Load Selection From Alpha Channel Settings: Load from document = Same as the duplicate that you are working on. Selection # 2 Replace selection = Checked Options = Nothing Checked Load
Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection
Effects > Artistic Effects > Aged Newspaper Settings: Use the same setting and effect you used before.
Selections > Select None
(T) Text Tool Helpful Tips: (a) Use a signature or handwritten font of some kind so it looks like it was written on and not just typed. (b) Add some text to the right side like an old time postcard writing. It is ok to write on the coffee cup stain that is there! ha-ha (c) I think a dark brownish color looks more like an aged writing but you choose. (d) I like setting my text to vector so I can slant the text and resize it. Doing it that way will also put it on a separate layer which is best !
Layers > Convert to Raster
Layers > New Raster Layer
Add your Watermark The stamp area might be a good place for this. Up to you!
Make your bottom layer active
(F) Flood Fill Tool Settings: Match mode = None Sample merged = Checked Blend mode = Normal Opacity = 100 Flood fill the bottom layer with your intended background color or tilable fill that you will use in your stationery.
Add any extras that you would like. On one of mine I added a lipstick tube and lowered the opacity so it looked like someone had kissed the postcard.
File > Export > JPEG Optimizer Compression = 25
